A distant harbour

Captain David Fernley has made and lost a fortune in the whaling trade, fishing the frozen Arctic wastes from the Yorkshire port of Whitby. Then his erring wife and best friend die in an accident at sea. David's self-destructive need to seek revenge consumes him in a story that sweeps through Whitby, the Arctic, London, Nova Scotia and the Pacific, as David follows the only life he knows - whaling.
