The Alaska Vegetation Classification

Comprehensive, statewide classification which has been in process of development since 1976. Wherever possible, classification is based on characteristics of vegetation itself, being designed to categorise existing rather than potential vegetation. Uses hierarchical system with five levels of resolution starting from 888 known Alaska plant communities which are listed and named.
