Bild und Text im Mittelalter

The cultures of the European Middle Ages were influenced decisively by the interaction of text and images. This volume concerns a wide range of current research methods from various fields of medieval studies disciplines. The contributions handle Western- and Eastern European monuments from late antiquity to the late Middle Ages and also take into view the cross-cultural phenomena of migration and reception of images and texts. The many facets of image-text relations are illuminated and past methods are critically discussed in specific case studies. In addition, ongoing digitization projects for the scientific exploration of images and texts are presented.
